After the vastly amusing Ala Vaikunthapurramuloo, Allu Arjun is heretofore with another amazing movie Pushpa: The Rise, the only release from 2021, which is assumed in some moolah every day, is at negligibly letting some activity at the Pushpa box office collection. According to Box Office India report, Pushpa movie has become the fifth-biggest South film after ‘Baahubali-The Conclusion,’ ‘Baahubali: The Beginning,’ ‘2.o’ and ‘Saaho’ with respect to the box office collections. Directed by Sukumar, the Pushpa movie is released in two sequels.
The newly released Telugu movie Pushpa: The Rise conveys some brute-on-ground validities but even is an acute buzz to critically haggle with how society abides the domination of a specific kind of virility as the deciding quality of an ancestral hero. Pushpa follows the saga of a daily-wage labourer and the protagonist who chances upon an opportunity to get involved in red sandalwood smuggling. The street smart Pushpa Raj is brisk enough to arrive with resolutions, the quality that enabled him to drive into the top rung of the red sandalwood smugglers syndicate. How does Pushpa Raj mount the ladder and how he gains antagonists in the process make up the suspension of the tale.
THE ORIGIN
Pushpa: The Rise initiates with a playful saga from Japan. Slowly, it reeks you into its world and offers you a history lesson on how red sandalwood is obtainable solely in Andhra Pradesh. The script carries its precious moment to specify the personalities of the syndicate and their hierarchy.
The gangster thriller Pushpa is regaling even though it doesn’t have anything unique to show with red sandalwood smuggling as the subplot. However, holding aside the commercial components and existence of sloop shots, Pushpa movie has enough essence to keep you enthralled in the tale. All thanks to Allu Arjun’s immersive performance, that is.
THE CHARACTER- PUSHPA
Unlike, Allu Arjun’s character, that is, fleshed out adequately, other characters are unidimensional and don’t construct an influence. Pushpa– the character of Allu Arjun is presented with rare character traits, like his twang or how he raises his left shoulder. Though these are given much essence, it doesn’t count to the character as a whole.
In every frame, it is visible that, Allu Arjun has thoroughly sacrificed himself to Sukumar. From his dialogues to portraying himself in varied emotions, he has presented one of his finest renditions.
THE MALE GAZE CHARACTER- SRI VALLI & OTHER CHARACTERS
The character Sri Valli, enacted by Rashmika Mandanna is there only for the male gaze in the movie. The camera concentrates on her bosom more than it does on her look. A remarkable execution has been done by Sunil’s Mangalam Srinu among others. He has effortlessly lured the attention of the audience towards him.
From supervising the syndicate to commanding admiration from his peers, he has done a great job, even among a horde of actors. Bhanwar Singh Shekhawat, the character of Fahadh Faasil is oriented in the last half-an-hour of the movie and is witnessed shooting individuals left, right, and centre and giving fierce glimpses. But still, Fahadh Faasil’s character doesn’t have enough content to be ‘the contender’ that we had anticipated him to be, even though, he has pulled off this part with comfort.
Finally, the item number of Samantha Oo Antava (Oo Solriya in Tamil), articulates how lecherous men are. Though it’s a welcome transition for an ‘item’ number, the camera eye doesn’t alter.
The multi-lingual film incorporates Jagapathi Babu, Prakash Raj, Dhananjay, Anasuya Bharadwaj, Harish Uthaman, and Vennela Kishore’s play supporting roles in the film.
THE MOST RUNNING GAG IN PUSHPA
One of the running witticisms in Pushpa is how Pushpa Raj‘s mother is consistently mocked for carrying offspring with a wedded man. Pushpa’s father’s sons with his legal wifey linger for every single chance to satirize Pushpa Raj and his mom. This whole stretch doesn’t hold valid closure, emerges over the top, and is felt to be an unnecessary segment.
IT’S ALLU ARJUN’S SHOW ALL THE WAY
A strong impact has been left by Pushpa: The Rise because of two major things:
- Allu Arjun’s interpretation, and
- Devi Sri Prasad’s pulsating music
Devi Sri Prasad has accomplished a magnificent job as a composer, right from his melodies to the backdrop music. Cinematographer Miroslaw Kuba Brozek’s job is praiseworthy, so is Karthika Srinivas-Ruben’s editing.
Pushpa: The Rise, which ranges for three hours, concludes on an elevated. However, it also leaves a query whether the second portion, titled, Pushpa: The Rule, will have adequate essence to retain our concentration for two hours or more!
