Best handheld gaming PC: Asus ROG Ally
While the Steam Deck essentially made portable PC gaming a reality, the Asus ROG Ally expanded upon its concepts while also shaking up the gameplay. The ROG Ally makes up for its lack of trackpads and a unique operating system with the gaming potential and adaptability of Windows 11. Although it isn’t flawless, it continually receives upgrades and modifications to enhance its use. The Ally makes a strong argument to replace the Steam Deck when you consider its 120Hz display, neat appearance, good performance, and access to Xbox Game Pass and other services’ titles.
Best PS5 game: God of War Ragnarok
For many people, God of War Ragnarok easily wins the award for the greatest best PS5 game published in the previous year. It was a massive PlayStation exclusive and a sequel to perhaps the best game ever made. Instead of mixing things up as much as its predecessor, God of War Ragnarok pushes towards maximalism. There is a great deal to see, a great deal of history to learn, and a great deal to slash into ribbons with the Leviathan Axe. And the game does have a few tricks up its sleeve that will probably make you smile and keep you firmly engrossed in the tale of Kratos and Atreus.
Best Xbox Series X game: Pentiment
You wouldn’t anticipate a 2D game that channels the visual aspects of painted manuscripts to be a standout Xbox Series X game on a console that includes Halo Infinite and Forza Horizon 5, but Pentiment succeeds in doing so. Pentimet is essentially a mediaeval murder mystery, stepping into the shoes of Andreas Maler, a journeyman artist in the 1500s. Pentiment offers an engaging narrative that tackles mediaeval religious systems, what it means to be an outsider, and the social and political climate of Europe some 500 years ago, thanks to the ability of renowned RPG developer Obsidian. It might not have The Witcher series’ character choices or Assassin’s Creed’s visual flair.
Best PC game: Total War: Warhammer 3
Even though the most recent Warhammer-themed grand strategy game from Creative Assembly was released more than a year ago, we’re giving it the prize for best PC game because over the past few months, Total War: Warhammer 3 has evolved from its rocky launch into the best strategy game ever created for the PC. Total War: Warhammer 3 has become a game of scope and scale that primarily works on PC with the addition of Mortal Empires, which allows you to choose virtually any Warhammer fantasy faction and claim victory across a map that spans the Old World and the New World.
