Apple TVs may get a NordVPN app: What it means for users

Apple debuted the latest version of tvOS at its annual developer conference, WWDC 2023. With Apple tvOS 17, the Cuepertino-based tech giant added native VPN app support. Now, a new report claims that NordVPN is working on a VPN app for Apple TV. However, the VPN provider will need more details before authenticating the app.

As reported by the Verge, NordVPN said: “We are concerned that there may be some restrictions on consumer VPN products and that the update will only benefit B2B VPN solutions. . Otherwise, our users will be able to use NordVPN on their Apple TV in the near future.

Importance of Native VPN Apps for Apple TV
This feature can be useful for users as they won’t have to wait to get home to stream shows on the go with Apple TV 4K. Arguably, the native VPN apps on Apple’s streaming box work just like they do on other devices. Now, in tvOS 17, users can access VPNs with Apple TV by installing the service on their router. However, it’s important to note that not all routers support VPN services. Native VPN is one of the few advantages of Google’s Chromecast device or Amazon’s Fire TV device over Apple TV. Other Apple devices like iPhone, iPad, and Mac already support native VPN services. Adding the ability to Apple TV would be very helpful as users will be able to stream shows that are not available in their country.

Other Features of Apple tvOS 17
Some of the other features announced with Apple tvOS 17 include improved dialogs. This feature separates the dialogue from the background noise and routes it through the central channel. tvOS 17 also supports Dolby Vision 8.1.

The latest software version for Apple TV is also set to bring updates to Apple Fitness+. These new updates will add custom meditation and workout plans that users can schedule based on things like their date, preferred duration, and type of workout. Apple tvOS17 will also add stacked workouts, which is essentially a workout list option. Meanwhile, the Audio Focus feature will allow users to prioritize the volume of music or the voice of Apple’s coaches.
