The Xbox Series S has an all-new color variant that doubles the existing storage. In a blog post, Microsoft says the Carbon Black color has the same sleek, modern matte finish as the Xbox Series X and the Xbox Wireless Controller.
The new console offers the same next-generation speed and performance as the 512GB S-Series variant but with twice the storage. Gamers can now download more of their favorite games to their consoles.
“You’ll get the most out of every minute of gameplay with features like Fast Resume, lightning-fast load times, and up to 120 FPS gameplay – all powered by Xbox Velocity Architecture,” said Bree Adams , said Xbox Senior Director of Marketing.
Price and availability
The Xbox Series S Carbon Black color variant will launch on September 1. Those interested, however, can pre-order the console starting today. The Xbox Series S 1TB storage variant costs $349.99. Microsoft says it will add more retailers and regions in the coming weeks.
The Xbox series was launched in November 2020. It’s a smaller, less powerful version of the Xbox Series X, but it still offers a significant upgrade over the previous generation of Xbox consoles. The Xbox Series S is powered by a custom AMD Zen 2 processor and an AMD RDNA 2 GPU. It has 10 GB of GDDR6 memory and a 512 GB NVMe SSD. The console can run games at resolutions up to 1440p at 120 frames per second. It also supports ray tracing, a new technology that can add realistic lights and shadows to games. Xbox Series S is backward compatible with thousands of games from previous generations of Xbox consoles. It also supports the Xbox Game Pass subscription service, which gives subscribers access to a library of more than 100 games.
