Which COVID-19 vaccine is more effective ? Covishield Vaccine or Covaxin Vaccine?
As per the experts, Covishield vaccine produced more antibodies than Covaxin.
Let us first know about two vaccines
Covishield vaccine is developed and manufactured by the Serum Institute of India(SII) through a license from AstraZeneca and Oxford at Pune.
That is, it is a Recombinant Chimpanzee Adenovirus vector vaccine (Covishield), encoding the SARS-CoV-2 Spike (S) glycoprotein with technology transfer from AstraZeneca/Oxford University.
Vaccination Drive In India
On Jan 16,2021, India began administering vaccines overcome to win the fight against the pandemic COVID-19.
As per the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare(MoHFW), 23.27 crore of vaccine doses have been administered so far under the nationwide vaccination drive.
A total of 236,198,726 people have been vaccinated in India (as of 07 June, 2021).
Which Vaccine is effective?
Experts says, Covishield and Covaxin both are elicited good response after taken both does of vaccine.
Covishield vaccines produces more antibody higher Covaxin . Overall, 79.3 per cent showed seropositivity after the first dose. Responder rate and median (IQR) rise in anti-spike antibody were significantly higher in Covishield vs. Covaxin recipient (86.8 vs. 43.8 per cent; 61.5 vs. 6 AU/ml; both p<0.001).
But conclusion is both the vaccines create good amount of antobodies. It is important for us that we will take two doses of Vaccines (Covishield or Covaxin).
We will never intermix both does of Vaccines.
The central government earlier granted emergency use approval to Covishield by Serum Institute of India and Covaxin by Bharat Biotech. In India, beneficiaries get two doses of the vaccine at a 28-day interval.
