Virat Kohli, a former captain of India, reminisced about his time as the leader of the men’s team for Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) in the Indian Premier League (IPL).
After captaining RCB for nine seasons, Kohli made the announcement that he would be leaving the position prior to the second leg of the IPL 2021 in the United Arab Emirates (UAE). Daniel Vettori was replaced as the Challengers’ captain by Virat Kohli back in 2013.
Kohli, who recently played in the Border Gavaskar Trophy against Australia, said that he was completely down and out at that point in time. After Kohli stepped down, Faf du Plessis took charge as RCB’s captain.
“To be completely honest, when my time as captain was nearing to a close, I had no faith. I had left. The tank was entirely bare. But that was just my viewpoint. I was speaking for myself when I stated, “I have seen so much of this, I just can’t handle it any longer,” “According to RCB Bold Diary, Kohli said.
“But, newcomers arrived the following season, bringing with them fresh perspectives and a fresh chance. They were happy. Maybe I wasn’t all that enthused on my own, but they brought the enthusiasm, and three years in a row we made the playoffs. We now begin each season with the same sense of anticipation as previously. I’m now energised “He declared.
Moreover, Kohli brought up the 2019 IPL, when RCB began their season with six straight defeats. Despite winning five of their last eight games, they came in last place in the standings.
“In 2019, we suffered six straight defeats. I still clearly recall our evening get-together following our defeat in the sixth game. I entered as the captain. I had vanished entirely. I was unable to feel anything. I couldn’t recognise myself, and I felt as though I had completely lost all faith.
“The first person I noticed as I entered the post-match gathering was AB. He approached me, and we stood face to face, acting as though we had never in our lives lost six games in a row. We almost played 15 years of international cricket together “Kohli continued.
Prior to the RCB women’s team’s Women’s Premier League (WPL) match against UP Warriorz on March 15, Kohli delivered the remarks to the players.
