Amazon will no longer use Amitabh Bachchan’s voice as the company has confirmed the discontinuation of the celebrity voice feature for Alexa. This feature will disappear worldwide and these celebrity voices are no longer available for purchase. Even Amazon will stop supporting them on Alexa-enabled devices in the coming days.
Celebrity voices disappear
Amazon introduced the celebrity voice feature on Alexa devices to make things more interactive and fun for users. Voices are available for purchase and the platform includes many celebrity voices from around the world depending on the region. For example, Alexa is available with Bachchan’s voice for Rs 299. Similarly, the platform also includes the voices of Samuel L. Jackson, Shaquille O’Neal, and Melissa McCarthy with prices starting at $1.
No longer available for purchase
We tried to buy Bachchan’s voice on Alexa. However, the page now explicitly mentions that “This skill is no longer available for purchase. Customers who have purchased this experience will continue to have access for one year from the date of purchase.
Similarly, other voice sites have similar comments. In fact, Samuel L. Jackson’s page has stated that users will no longer be able to use the service after April 2023.
For those who don’t know, the celebrity voice feature allows users to listen to jokes, life stories, everyday stories, and more. with the voice of their favorite celebrity. From now on, the service will no longer be available. Note that users who have purchased Bachchan’s voice will be able to use and interact with it for one year from the date of purchase.
Amazon first introduced celebrity voices in 2019 and coming to India in 2020, and Bachchan became the first celebrity voice for Alexa in India.
