Pixel Fold is not Google’s first foldable phone, here’s what happened to the first one

Google earlier this month launched its first foldable smartphone, the Google Fold. This smartphone is a laptop-style product and recently it was reported that the company is working on a foldable clamshell phone to support the Samsung Galaxy Flip series. It seems the rumors are true as Google has confirmed that it is indeed working on a second foldable phone.

According to Ivy Ross, Google’s head of hardware product design, said in an episode of the Made By Google podcast that the company is working on a second foldable phone.

“I’m really proud of the team because there’s another foldable model we’ve created that we have the discipline to hold back and say ‘no, that’s not good enough’ and wait. Really for until we feel we can do something that’s good enough or better than what’s already there,” Ross said. “So it’s really a proof (sic) that we can do that and recognize when something isn’t enough,” the executive added. However, Ross did not confirm what kind of foldable phone Google is working on.
