MS Dhoni on IPL retirement plans: ‘I have 8-9 months to decide’

Mahendra Singh Dhoni, the captain of the Chennai Super Kings, who is 41 years old, said he has “ample time to decide” because the next IPL auction will take place in December of this year, is still not in a rush to make a decision about his departure from the league.

“I have 8 to 9 months to make a decision. Why take that migraine right now. I have time to make a choice. After leading CSK to their tenth IPL final and the post-match presentation, Dhoni announced that the auction would take place in December.

On Tuesday in Qualifer 1, CSK (172/7) defeated Gujarat Titans (157 all out) by 15 runs at their home field MA Chidambaram Stadium.

There have been rumours that this IPL season could be Dhoni’s final one ever since it started.

“I will consistently visit CSK. We shall see,” the former India captain, who has already announced his retirement from international cricket, continued. “I have been away from home since January and have been practising since March.

The four-time winners CSK, who had placed seventh in 2022, put on an impressive display to defeat Gujarat Titans.

“I don’t believe IPL is big enough to say it’s another final,” There are ten teams, it is even harder, it takes more than two months to complete, and there are many personalities. Everyone has given something. Although the middle order didn’t have many opportunities, we are content with where we are.
